Mumbai, June 18: While Mumbaikars rejoice the relatively cooler weather with overcast skies, the city is all geared up to witness high tide at 15.36 PM on Monday. According to recent alerts, Mumbai will witness high tides over 4.6 metres in height on Monday.

The high tide in the city today will be accompanied by rainfall. Flood-like situations are also expected as the sea water brought in by the high tide will prevent rainwater from being drained into the sea.

Due to heavy rainfall over the last few days, water-logging was reported in low-lying areas like Kurla, Chunabhatti, Veera Desai Road in Andheri and Santacruz.

Earlier, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) had advised that Mumbai will experience flooding between June 13 and June 18 as there will be high tides which will be over 4.5 metres in this period. The BMC has also identified days with high tides and issued advisories to all its agencies and citizens. Reports inform that there will be 24 high tide days this monsoon.

According to weather agency, Mumbai will see only light showers for the next couple of days as the monsoon circulation over the state has weakened considerably. An IMD spokesperson informed that Mumbai and its suburbs are likely to receive only intermittent showers in the coming days but isolated heavy rain is expected in one or two areas in the next 24 hours.
