In a furniture store, he meets Marie Riviere, whom he initially swindles but quickly becomes attracted to. His adventures take him from an IKEA wardrobe to London, a Louis Vuitton suitcase to Rome, and a hot air balloon to a ship heading to Tripoli. After being robbed, he meets Somali immigrant Wiraj and, together, they reclaim his money. Aja donates it to a refugee camp and uses the remainder for a fake passport and ticket to India. Before leaving, he visits Marie in Paris, who is now with another man. Back in India, Aja becomes a teacher. Marie eventually returns, having left her fiancé, and they kiss. Aja offers the kids a pardon from custody if they attend his school, which they accept. As the film ends, a colleague asks if Aja's story is true, to which he replies, "Yes, all of the important bits."
