Officially known as Operation Batla House, the encounter took place on September 19, 2008 in Batla House locality in Jamia Nagar, Delhi. The incident remains disputed since doubts were raised against the police version of the encounter after journalists and activists visited the site.

The actor while speaking about stepping into the shoes of Yadav said, "The responsibility is even bigger as this is the first time I am playing someone who is still serving. If he (Sanjeev Kumar) thinks I am not good enough, he can even shoot me.
